John Nettell Trophy - Scratch Medal Rules

1. Format: 36 Hole Individual Scratch Medal over 2 days. Played in threes from the White tees.


2. Eligibility: Competitors must have reached the age of 55 by the 17th June 2026 and have a handicap index of 7.5 or less on the first day of the competition.


3. Starting times: will commence from the 1st tee at approx. 10.00am (Wednesday) and 08:00am (Thursday). Starting times and associated player information will be circulated in advance of the competition date via e-mail.


4. Entries: Entry into the John Nettell Trophy can be made online or by completing the enclosed entry form and returning to ‘Opens co-ordinator’ at admin@brokenhurst-manor.org.uk or to the Club Office at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club, Sway Road, Brockenhurst, Hampshire. SO42 7SG. Entry fee is £95 per person (includes competition entry, prizes, Coffee on arrival both days and a meal after play on Thursday. Max. 72 players – higher handicaps may be balloted out if the competition is over-subscribed. 


5. Closing date for entry: 29th May 2026.


6. Cancellations: We regret to advise that no refunds will be given if a cancellation is made after the closing date of the 29th May 2026.


7. Practice rounds: Please book your practice round with the BMGC pro shop in advance on 01590 623092. A concessionary guest green fee of £25 is provided.


8. Local Rules: applicable local rules are as printed on the scorecard provided on the day. Any additions or changes to these rules will be notified to you on the day of the competition.


9. Prizes/Results: the results for each day will be published the same day. the prize presentation will take place on the Thursday once all scores have been returned and checked. In the event of a tie, a decision will be made on count-back. Age group prizes will be awarded to the best scores. 36-hole prize winners take preference over 18-hole prizes.


10. Committee: The competition is organised by the Competition Committee of Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club who will rule on any dispute that may arise. Their decision shall be final.


11. Personal buggies: Are permitted but must be pre-authorised by the Club Office. Please contact admin@brokenhurst-manor.org.uk for further information. The Club reserves the right to deny the use of a personal buggy if prior authorisation has not been obtained.
